Good Friday 4/3/2026 Devotional
03/04/26 12:13
Give ear, O my people, to my teaching; incline your ears to the words of my mouth! I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings from of old, things that we have heard and known, that our fathers have told us.
We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and His might, and the wonders that He has done.
Psalm 78:1-4
The things of God are a dark mystery to those who don’t know Jesus. People will try to explain them, but if they don’t know Him it’s like a man born blind trying to describe colors. There is no frame of reference, and they guess to the best of their ability, but are often just plain wrong in what they say. So false prophets abound, who claim to have found the Truth that was lost, but who are still in the dark.
ven though it’s the old way that our ancestors knew, it has to be re-learned in each generation. The task of fathers is to faithfully teach the things of God to the next generation and pray that they get it, but only God Himself can reveal it to their hearts.
Jesus died on the cross to atone for our sins. He rose from the dead and is alive still, today, to do that mysterious work of revealing Himself to our hearts. The Holy Spirit’s work in our life is a dark mystery to us, until that happens. No one comes to the Father, but through Him.
Lord, help me to make this mystery clear for my children. Help me to pass it on successfully to the next generation. Turn on the lights in their darkness, for Your own sake, Lord Jesus.
Amen!
