The words translated judgment, κρίμα (krima) implies the results of a judicial decision. It might be the sentencing of the one found guilty, or the release of one declared not guilty. So here the Lord isn’t so much saying “I came to judge;” He’s saying that as a result of the encounter with Him, some will be found guilty and others will be declared innocent.
It all depends on how I respond to Jesus. Do I receive Him and His offer of forgiveness and redemption? Or do I reject Him because I don’t think I need to be forgiven or redeemed?
Forgiveness means I’m declared not guilty; redemption means my life is re-purposed, set on a whole new path, as God intended it to be.
Lord, don’t let me miss the opportunity of forgiveness and redemption as I meet You here, today. Amen!
