Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.
1 Corinthians 6:18
You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
I find it interesting that the Bible tells us in many places to resist temptation, but regarding this particular area of temptation it says, “flee!” In other words, “Don’t stay and see how long you can resist; get out of there!”
You see, “Each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.” (James 1:14) and this desire is one that’s built in to our very organism and is very strong. God knows this, since He created us, and He gave us the rules for the proper use of this desire.
When you find yourself tempted in this particular way, God’s Word to you is, get out of there. Run away from it. Remove yourself from the temptation. Change the channel, turn off the computer, go to a public place where you aren’t cornered by it. The way to resist this one is to flee.
Lord, thank You for redeeming me by the blood of Jesus. Thank You for the forgiveness that covers all my failures. Give me the courage and strength I need to resist temptation, and the wisdom to know when to run away from it. Give me a heart that desires Your glory more than my own gratification, for Jesus’ sake. Amen.
