Knowing the Savior and Making Him Known

Wednesday 5/7/2025 Devotional

An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain.
Proverbs 31:10-11

Young men, choose your wife carefully! If you are careful in choosing your friends, how much more carefully should you choose the one who will be your lifelong friend and companion?

It’s worth the search and it’s worth the investment. Once you find her, don’t hesitate to pour your time, your money, and all your energy into keeping her well and safe. Take good care of her. You will have no lack of gain from that investment.

Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
Proverbs 31:30

Don’t be taken in by mere outward charm and superficial beauty. Look deeper; you’re in this for the long haul.

And for those of us who are no longer young and have already made our choice (in my case, well over fifty years ago!) the same advice goes, but double down on it. Take good care of her. She’s the most precious and valuable “investment” in your life.

Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates.
Proverbs 31:31

Her works? That’s you! Her husband and her children are the works of a woman’s hands. She’s been building you up in her own unique way to the best of her ability ever since she married you. Make it worth her while. You won’t be sorry!

Lord, thank You for inventing women and instituting marriage and the family. Thank you for faithful wives and faithful mothers, including the single moms who are pouring their own soul into their kids each day. Bless them, Lord! We are so grateful for them. Amen.
