Knowing the Savior and Making Him Known

Wednesday 10/29/2025 Devotional

Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham… So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith… And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise.
Galatians 3:7, 9, 29

The Christian church didn’t replace Israel as God’s Chosen People, as many people seem to believe. The Chosen People just got a lot bigger under the New Covenant.

God’s plan all along was to bring salvation to those who believe, among all the nations. And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, "In you shall all the nations be blessed."
Galatians 3:8

The nation of Israel was chosen in a unique way to be God’s instrument to bring His salvation to the world. They were to be His mouthpiece, and through their genealogy the identification of His promised Savior would be made certain and unmistakable.

Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the value of circumcision? Much in every way! To begin with, the Jews were entrusted with the oracles of God.
Romans 3:1-2

That never meant that every descendant of Israel was saved. All through the Bible the “remnant” in Israel were the ones who drew near to Him by faith, and they were always a small minority of the actual nation. And God repeatedly showed that Gentiles who came to Him in faith would also be accepted. The Lord Jesus mentioned two of them: Naaman, the Syrian General and the Widow of Zarephath, as examples.

God still speaks to the world through Israel. His promises to the descendants of Abraham are still valid. No empire or nation that attacks the Jewish people can survive, because God’s promise to “bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you” still stands, and so He continues to prove that His Word is true.

But as always, those who come to God by faith in His promised Savior are the Chosen People, Jew or Gentile, chosen, in fact, from before the foundation of the world.

For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith… There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Galatians 3:26, 28

Lord God, thank you for including me among Your Chosen People, by Faith in the Savior You promised. Keep me close as I trust in You today. Amen
