Knowing the Savior and Making Him Known

Saturday 1/14/2026 Devotional

At that time Jesus declared, "I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was Your gracious will.”
Matthew 11:25-26

Motivated by grace, God has chosen to reveal Himself, His forgiveness, mercy, and redemption to “little children,” instead of the wise and understanding of this world.

The Bible says, “knowledge puffs up, while love builds up.” Mere human wisdom and godless education can get in the way of our coming to Him.

We become puffed up with pride in our ability to understand what we know, and our pride keeps us from understanding - or even considering - what we don’t know. We close our minds and our hearts to anything that might contradict the carefully balanced theories we have stacked up. Instead of seeking the truth, we proudly seek to defend our own theories.

None of us comes to Jesus because we’re so intelligent or because we have more wisdom, education, and understanding than anyone else. We come when we begin to think, like little children, that there is much we have not yet known or understood, but that our Father can teach us.

Lord, open my mind and my heart to receive from You what I have yet to learn. Help me to respond with love to Your grace, like an adoring child ready to learn from his father. Amen.
