Calvary Update Sunday 7/20/2025
Hello, everyone.
The Lord Jesus said, “I will build my Church and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it.”
What a glorious Sunday at Calvary Free Lutheran church! We’re back in our own beautiful new building, worshipping on Sunday morning: Sunday School at 9:30 and Worship Service at 10:30. We had a good turnout of our own members and several friends visiting from the neighborhood. Zoila Martinez brought us a lively report from our Youth Group on their recent experience at FLY, which had quite an impact on our teenagers.
The new audio/video system is working beautifully and the live stream to our YouTube channel went smoothly.
You can see the service by clicking the following link:

(Or you can copy that link it paste it into your Internet browser.)
Facebook is being a little more difficult for some reason, but we will begin streaming to that venue as well, as soon as we get it figured out.
In the sermon today Pastor Dan focused on the question, “What is a church?” Since we have a new church building, what does it mean to be a church? It’s worth listening to, especially if you’re serious about following Jesus!
After the Service we had the congregation at Hosanna Lutheran church, which has so graciously hosted us for the last year and a half, come to a barbecue at Calvary. I think almost the whole congregation came; it was great! We enjoyed good fellowship with our brothers and sisters from Hosanna. Pastor Jim Hale spent three ten-hour days smoking the pulled pork for the sandwiches and the result was delicious.
This Wednesday the Women’s Bible Study will be at Pastor Dan & Debbie’s home, 9501 E Broadway Rd, lot 140, at 9:30 AM.
Our church Supper and Bible Study is that same evening at Teri Carr’s home, 8109 E culver Street, beginning at 5:00 PM.
By then, we should have word that we have passed our final indoor building inspection and have the permit to fully occupy our new church home.
