Knowing the Savior and Making Him Known

Monday 2/23/2026 Devotional

O Lord, make me know my end and what is the measure of my days; let me know how fleeting I am!
Psalm 39:4

We struggle under the delusion that our life will go on for a long time, that there will be plenty of time to repent and do the right thing, later. For now, we just want to have some fun.

There’s some tendency for us to think more about these things as we get older and maybe see our own death looming closer. Funerals sometimes force us to stop and rethink our priorities; they interrupt our pursuit of happiness, at least for a moment, and remind us that this life is but a few breaths, and that we can’t take any of the stuff we value so highly with us. But then our spiritual Attention Deficit Disorder kicks in and we go back to pursuing whatever feels good for the present moment.

Life is what happens while you’re busy doing other things. I need to see the brevity of my lifespan in the perspective of eternity, and make better choices as the days flit by.

Lord, thank You for the grace that covers my failures with forgiveness, for Jesus’ sake. Help me now to get a true perspective on life. Give me eyes to see my own life in the context of eternity, and to make wise decisions and wise choices, today. Amen.
