Who among you fears the Lord and obeys the voice of His servant? Let him who walks in darkness and has no light trust in the Name of the Lord and rely on his God.
Isaiah 50:10

Isaiah was speaking to Israel, to a people who were facing imminent destruction at the hands of their enemies and didn’t know what to do, where to turn, or how to respond. This was God’s Word of comfort and His gentle instruction, to take them through this dark time.

What did He tell them?

“Just trust Me.”

When I’m in a dark, confusing, impossible situation, His answer to me is the same. When I can’t see the way forward, when the darkness has me hemmed in on every side and I can’t see how it can possibly be turned into something good, I don’t need to know the end, the way through or the final solution. All I have to do is trust in Jesus and follow, step by step.

I just have to do the next right thing, trusting God to fulfill His Word, bring about His plan, and carry me through.

Lord Jesus, Your promises are sure. You always keep Your Word, and You always have a plan. Help me to trust and obey, when I can’t see any further than my nose. Thank You, Lord! Amen.
