Knowing the Savior and Making Him Known

Sunday 4/26/2026 Devotional

I will ponder the way that is blameless. Oh when will You come to me? I will walk with integrity of heart within my house…
Psalm 101:2

David had had a bad experience that almost destroyed him when he failed to keep this rule. He was enjoying the cool air on the rooftop terrace and let his eyes settle on something (someone) he had no business looking at. His integrity sort of went out the window and the result went from lust to adultery to a cover-up that included murder.

He learned some things about walking with God, and here he shares them with us.

First, he learned you don’t mess around with God. If you want to know Him and want His blessing on your life, “ponder the way that is blameless.” Don’t let your mind dwell on shameful things.

Second, he learned to “walk with integrity of heart” even in his own house, where nobody else could see what he was doing.

The next verse gets even more specific about that point: I will not set before my eyes anything that is worthless. I hate the work of those who fall away; it shall not cling to me. (Psalm 101:3)

He learned to not be looking at things he had no business looking at as a man of God.

When it was all over, when David repented and confessed his sin, God forgave him. But still, the consequences of what he had done cost him dearly. He nearly lost everything, including his family and his life.

Don’t play with the devil’s toys.
Don’t flirt with temptation.
Don’t try to see how much you can get away with.
Walk with integrity even in your house, all alone, where no one else can see.
Ponder what is blameless, and wait for God to come and reveal Himself to you. You’ll find He’s been there the whole time, waiting for the right moment.

Lord, help me to keep my heart and my mind pure, set on what’s blameless in Your sight, as I wait for You to come to me. Amen.
