The Lord said to Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh and say, 'Shall I indeed bear a child, now that I am old?'
“Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, about this time next year, and Sarah shall have a son."
Genesis 18:13-14
We often say, “God specializes in the impossible.”
Sarah laughed at the news that she would have a child, because she knew it was impossible; she was 90 years old. The facts is that 90 year old ladies don’t have babies. But she did have a child, just as God promised, and the entire Jewish race is descended from him.
Drug addicts “know” there’s know hope for them, but Jesus saves and delivered thousands of them every day. We know many of them, and we are some of them! The truth of God’s Word overrides the “facts.”
People are told their medical condition is incurable and yet they’re healed. There’s no money, but somehow the thing gets payed for. People are told, “You can’t change; you were born that way,” and yet they are set free. It happens every day. Our laugh of incredulity is turned into the joyful laughter of fulfillment, of gratitude for answered prayer.
Thank You, Lord, for the miracles that power our lives day after day. I will trust the truth of Your Word rather than the “facts” that contradict You, Lord Jesus. Amen.
