Knowing the Savior and Making Him Known

Sunday 3/29/2026 Devotional

As for me, my feet had almost stumbled, my steps had nearly slipped. For I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
Psalm 73:1-3

The world constantly dangles all its beauty and glitter: success; plenty of money to spend on whatever you’d like; “friends” who approve of everything you say and do. They’re all so pretty! A worm on a hook must look exactly like that to a fish.

The desire for wealth, glamour, and popularity that this world loves so much is a deadly trap for anyone who wants to be pure in heart. The devil is quick to offer us these things - if we will just compromise a little. Of course, just like that fish,  a little nibble suddenly becomes - oops - fully committed! when the hook sets in to the jawbone.

The other way to live is written a few verses later in this Psalm:

“Nevertheless, I am continually with You; You hold my right hand. You guide me with Your counsel, and afterward You will receive me to glory.”
Psalm 73:23-24

Lord Jesus, You always hold my hand and lead me through these temptations. You’re always there to guide me by Your counsel, Your Word is hidden in my heart. Keep me always close to You; never let me go. Amen.
