Knowing the Savior and Making Him Known

Monday 7/28/2025 Devotional

Elizabeth, a relative of Mary’s, was sixth months pregnant with John, her son who would be known later as a John the Baptist. Mary was carrying in her own womb Jesus, although He was at this point a tiny fetus, only a few days old, and no one knew about it but Mary herself and the Angel who had told her it was about to happen.

But when Mary came in to the house and greeted Elizabeth, the baby John leaped in his mother’s womb. He went all Pentecostal, doing a dance of joyful worship, because Jesus had just come into the room. Elizabeth herself was filled with the Holy Spirit and began to prophesy over Mary, talking about things she had no natural way of knowing.

But this final statement in Elizabeth’s words of prophecy over Mary pretty much sum it all up: there is a blessing on the one who will take God’s Word at face value, believe that God will keep His promises and step out accordingly.

Mary’s simple faith in God’s Word put her in line for unspeakable blessings from God.

Lord, I would like to walk in such a simple faith: “God said it, I believe it; that settles it.” I know Your Word is true but my mind so quickly returns to questioning and doubt. Lord, I believe; help my unbelief. Help me to step out in faith, with the assurance that Your promise is all I need. Amen.
