Knowing the Savior and Making Him Known

Monday 7/21/2025 Devotional

Jairus’s twelve year old daughter was very sick. He went to ask Jesus to come and heal her, but on the way back there was a delay and before they got to the house, friends came to him with the news that his little girl had died. They encouraged him to just leave Jesus alone and come home to be with his family, as they grieved their loss together.

“Why trouble the Teacher any further?” they said. What they meant was, “Jesus is obviously too busy teaching other people to be bothered with your trouble, or care about your grief, and there’s nothing He can do, anyway.”

The Lord heard what they were saying. He could see Jairus’ disappointment and grief.  So He said, “Don’t be afraid; just trust Me.”

“Trust You? I’ve never been so disappointed in my life,” Jairus might have thought. But he waited to see what Jesus would do, still trusting Him. When they got to the house, the Lord answered His prayer in a way he could not have imagined, raising the little girl from the dead.

How many times has God said to you in the last year, “Are you going to trust Me now, or not?” I seem to hear that question from Him myself, more and more: “Will you trust Me, now?”

The darker the prospects, the more impossible the situation, the more important this question becomes. Will I trust Him, now?

Lord, I will trust You. There’s no other way through this. I’m looking to You for forgiveness, for healing, for deliverance, and for answers. I know that You will never abandon me and that You will keep Your Word. Help me to just keep trusting in You. Amen!
