Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways! You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you.
Psalm 128:1-2
Here’s one we don’t often think of when we “count our blessings:” the privilege of being able to eat the fruit of the labor of our hands.
For many people, it seems like the fruit of the labor of their hands is snatched away from them. They never get to enjoy the result of all their work. They work hard but have nothing to show for it, and they can’t even be sure of their next meal, no matter how hard they labor.
Here is a promise from God, that those who fear Him, who walk in His ways, will be provided for.
The Lord Jesus taught us to pray, “Give us this day our daily bread.” He taught us that our Father in heaven will provide for us as His beloved children, as we fear, love, and trust in Him.
Do your work God’s way. Do your finances His way. Raise your family His way. Walk before Him and be blameless. Trust Him to keep His promises, and know that “as a Father cares for His children, so the Lord cares for those who fear Him.”
Father, thank You for Your forgiveness and for this promise of Your blessing on my life. I know that by Your care I will have what I need today. Bless the work of my hands, and keep me close, for Jesus’ sake. Amen.
