Knowing the Savior and Making Him Known

Saturday 5/3/2025 Devotional

The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the Lord.
Proverbs 21:31

We do all we can to prepare for the future. To train, to practice our skills, to lay aside supplies and equipment so we're ready for whatever comes just makes sense. In fact, to fail to do these things is to set ourselves up for failure.

But of course, we don't know what the future actually holds, and the enemy is laying his plans, too. After we've done all we can to prepare, our success is in God's hands. He knows the future and No wisdom, no understanding, no counsel can avail against the Lord. (Proverbs 21:30)

Just as it is in the natural realm, so it is in the spiritual. God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life. You also have an enemy and he has terrible plans for your life, and not just yours but your children's after you. He would love to see us all enslaved.

We prepare our hearts for the day of trouble, of temptation, of grief or sorrow the best we can, not knowing what the future holds. But we trust in the One who can save, deliver, and restore us even as we prepare.

Strengthen your heart; fill it with God's Word, stored up and ready to deploy. Strengthen your prayer life; stay in communication with God. Be faithful in the little things today, and trust Him to carry you through the big ones tomorrow.

Lord, let Your Kingdom, where You reign, be firmly established in my life. Prepare my heart for whatever the future holds, and let Your will be done. Nothing can stand against Your purpose for me and mine! Amen.
