Knowing the Savior and Making Him Known

Sunday 10/12/2025 Devotional

Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
1 Corinthians 15:58

The phrase that confuses many here is “the work of the Lord.” Most people read that and they think it means “church work.” But the work of the Lord simply means living God’s way instead of the world’s way, the devil’s way, the way demanded by the lusts of my sinful flesh.

To “abound in the work of the Lord” is to let God accomplish His work, His purpose in my life. He is the one who gives me the strength to live His way, today.

If my day is filled with this kind of living, characterized by honesty, lovingkindness, forgiveness, patience with others and humility, considering the other guy more important than myself, my day isn’t wasted. It isn’t spent in vain. It’s accomplishing what God had in mind for me today, when He created me.

Lord, help me to approach this day steadfastly committed to doing it Your way. Keep me from being moved off of that commitment by my circumstances. Do Your work in me; accomplish Your purpose in my life today, as I look to You for that strength. Amen.
