Ephesians 3:16-17

The secret to getting answered prayer is to find out what God wants to do, and then ask Him for that.

Paul was led by the Holy Spirit to pray for the believers in Ephesus the very things that God wanted to give them. Of course, that’s the same thing He wants for you and me, so I’m praying the same way for us. This is how it begins:

First of all, that God would strengthen you, working by His Spirit deep inside of you, so that Christ is able to dwell in your heart by faith.

Second, that as a result of His presence dwelling in your heart, not as a barely tolerated guest but as Lord, your life and everything you do and say today will be rooted and grounded in love.

Lord, make it so. Make Yourself so much at home in my heart today that my thoughts, words, and deeds are guided, controlled and empowered by Your character trait of genuine, unselfish love. Amen.
