Knowing the Savior and Making Him Known

Wednesday 4/8/2026 Devotional

Now therefore, if I have found favor in Your sight, please show me now Your ways, that I may know You in order to find favor in Your sight.
Exodus 33:13

Moses’ only concern was to know God better. He had a burning desire to understand God’s ways, to know how God thinks, how He works; to understand His goal and His purpose in everything He says and does. How does God think? How does God feel about what I’m doing? How can I conform my life to what pleases Him?

This desire on Moses’ part was what made him fit to lead God’s people.

There was no ambition in Moses. He wasn’t interested in being the Boss. In fact, he tried every way he could to get out of that position and finally stepped into the role only when God insisted that that was His plan. And once in that role he remained convinced that the only thing that mattered was that he press on to know God more intimately and follow Him more closely every day.

Being in the leadership role of God’s people was a side issue. He had no need to defend his position because He was focused on staying close to God. He could deal with their constant rebellion and rejection because it didn’t matter, so long as he himself stayed true to God and to His Word.

Lord, I spend way too much time worrying about what people think. Far too often I only seek to please myself, instead of You. Help me to get my heart centered on knowing You, following You, and being faithful to You. Reveal Yourself to me; let me know You better. Nothing else really matters; I’ll leave it all in Your hands if can get just this one thing right. Amen.
