God’s offer of forgiveness and reconciliation always includes the call to repentance. To tell people that the Kingdom of God has arrived and invite them to join it is both a gracious offer of free forgiveness and a call away from the darkness, into the light.

He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the Kingdom of His beloved Son, in Whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Colossians 1:13-14

A religion that doesn’t include both the offer of forgiveness and the call to leave my sin behind and live a new, clean life isn’t the religion of the Bible. It isn’t the religion of the Lord Jesus and His Apostles. It’s a cheap imitation, a sham Christianity, and it sets no one free, leaving them in the grip of demonic forces of darkness.

Jesus came to save me from all of that and set me free to live under Him in His Kingdom, no longer a slave.

Father, You have proclaimed forgiveness to me for Jesus’ sake. You’ve set me free from the chains of sin that bound me, and invited me to walk away from them. Help me now to walk in that freedom and not submit again to darkness and slavery. Fill my heart today, so that I can keep walking in the light! Amen.
