Knowing the Savior and Making Him Known

Monday 12/1/2025 Devotional

He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name He has inherited is more excellent than theirs.
For to which of the angels did God ever say, ‘You are My Son, today I have begotten You’?
Or again, "I will be to Him a Father, and He shall be to me a Son"? And again, when He brings the Firstborn into the world, He says, ‘Let all God's angels worship Him.’"
Hebrews 1:3-6

What was the “name” that Jesus inherited?

Son of God.”

He inherited that name, because that’s who He is, “begotten of the Father before all worlds.” He didn’t earn or aspire to that name, he inherited it; it was His from the beginning.

He was re-elevated to the position, far superior to the angels, when He returned to share His original place of glory with the Father. That’s why He could pray just before His crucifixion, “And now, Father, glorify Me in Your own presence with the glory that I had with You before the world existed.” (John 17:5).

He had humbled Himself thirty-three years before, in order to become a man and die for our sins. But the night He was born, the angels of heaven did as the Father commanded, and worshipped Him. “Suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom He is pleased!"
Luke 2:13-14

Lord, I worship You, together with the angels and all the rest of creation. Creator and sustainer, seated at the right hand of the Majesty on High, upholding the universe with the word of Your power, my Lord and my Savior. Amen.
